The geological origin of "Gris Quintana" Granite to date back to Paleozoical Age, exactly at the last time of Hercinic Orogenia (300 millions years ago).

    The granite in Quintana de la Serena is distributed over all district, except the western area, however the granite variety wich is called "Gris Quintana" is located in two specific areas:

    - La Dehesa Boyar, actually this zone is where it´s find the most important extraction of granite in the Extremadura region.

    - La Lagunilla, secondary zone which is located at the south of the town.

    The advantages of granite "Gris Quintana" principally are three:

• Beauty: elegant and moderate material in any finish.

• Hardness: It´s one of the most hard granites at the national market.

• Manual work: It´s very easy to work this granite by the quarrymen.
